Nothing like a nice ride through the country to restore mental balance.

Today was a Good Day.

SCOTUS rules that the strip search of a middle school girl by a male administrator did, in fact, violate her rights.
Clarence Thomas dissented (ooo, shocker)
They remanded the issue of civil liability of the school district back down, but specified that the Administrator (Wilson) was not to be held personally liable.

If that were MY little girl, I'd have held that son of a bitch liable in a way he'd remember every day for the rest of his life.

MBA
As of 5:08pm today I am oficially the proud impending recipient of a shiny new MBA.
Features include:
A 4.0 GPA
Valedictorian Designation
A Hotchkiss Scholar Medal
Summa Cum Laude honors.

I would officially like to thank my family and friends for supporting me in this, and for putting up with my absence, whining, and irritability over the last 2.5 years

MBA
Just got done writing my last paper.

The paper is a team effort, so my partner may have revisions, but the thing is WRITTEN, so with minor edits will be posted to our instructor tomorrow.  Class is on Monday, but our instructor has advised us to "pack light" as it's mostly review, and may wind up migrating to a bar.

The presentation deck for Strategic Management is 95% done.  MY part IS done, but I'll help with touchups and last minute additions.
There is a formal presentation in class on Tuesday, which should be reasonably straightforward:
1. this was our plan
2. our plan was working great.
3. this is where some fucktard on another team decided to torpedo us in a market segment on the last turn of the simulation game, just to watch us burn because the jealous fuck couldn't beat us in any prior year.  he still won't win, but now we didn't either.
4. Here's what we learned from taking it up the ass with a torpedo.
5. This is what we would do in the future to prevent ourselves from getting fucked by a vindictive classmate.
6. Here's all the MBA jargon to justify that position.
7. Insert math and formulas
8. Summary.

After class on Tuesday, my cohort and I will be completely done with coursework, homework, assigned readings - EVERYTHING.
I expect much drinking to occur after class that night.  No, really.  A lot.

DONE.  FINISHED. OVER.

Except the agonizing (on my part, anyway) wait for the final grades.
I honestly don't know whether our stumble at the end of Strategic was enough to lower me to an A-, thus killing my 4.0 and Valedictory hopes.  The not knowing is killing me - the drinking should help, but I can't stay drunk for 7 days (ah, youth, i miss you so) which is how long the profs have to turn them in.

But, after Tuesday night the "bullet done left the gun" as they say, so que sera sera, and all that bullshit.

So either with High Honors alone, HH with a shiny Hotchkiss Medal (top 5%), or HH + HM + a shiny Valedictorian hood, I walk the stage on June 28.

Done.

It hardly seems even real.

Looking at the prospect of a boring weekend?
Here's an event to spice it up for you...

http://chicagonakedride.org/

My first thought was about the summer I spent riding in England, and how sore "the boys" were at the end of a day WITH pants on.
Can't imagine riding "uncontained" myself - not to mention the distracting noise of people vomiting as my fat naked butt went past them.

Now somebody just needs to start a motorcycle one....

Thing 2's birthday party was today.  Mini-cakes were baked by her mother, Purple frosting of an acceptable shade was mixed in a mad science experiment by me, and applied to said cakes.  Travel to Gymnastics arena successful.  Most adults caught recapturing childhood briefly by using apparatus of some flavor (mostly trampoline and foam cube pit).

I am still capable of a front flip from a jump board, and, apparently a c-drop with full two-foot recovery on the trampoline, as well as a punch-roll on the spring floor.  However I discovered that "capable" and "advisable to do so" are two very different things.
I am one sore Daddy right now, nursing a muscle-locked back and what feels like a pulled tendon in my right ankle.
But dammit it was fun, and watching my daughters faces when i pulled those maneuvers was priceless.  Well, at least worth the price paid, in soreness and recovery time.

Thing 2 and her friends had a ball, and she got a stunning array of really cool loot (giant horseshoes game!)

Having now completed the slides for my class assignment tomorrow, I am headed for bed.

Two major assignments left for school.  In 9 days, I will be done with classes.
The stress of worrying about whether i can hang onto the GPA, and hence the Valedictorian slot is getting pretty intense.
Fortunately, there ain't much longer to go.

So, as a reward for beating up on her ISP during her recent office move, [info]dek9 gifted me with one of these:

I just got a chance to try it.

Oh. My. God.

Who says good customer service doesn't pay off?

If they get this onto the Kindle through 3G access or whatever, they have essentially created the friggin Hitchhiker's Guide.
I mean, the data presentation and correlations are REALLY similar.
